Rachel Madel Speech Therapy Inc. provides individualized communication support services designed to help participants build the functional communication, social, adaptive, and self-advocacy skills needed for meaningful participation in everyday life.

Our services are focused on supporting individuals in home and community environments, with an emphasis on increasing independence, strengthening relationships, and improving access to daily activities.

We use a strengths-based, highly individualized approach to support each participant’s ability to communicate, engage, and participate more fully in their natural environments.

 

What We Support

Functional Communication in Everyday Life

We support participants in developing practical communication skills that can be used across daily routines and real-world interactions.

This may include:

  • Expressing wants, needs, choices, and opinions

  • Engaging in back-and-forth interactions

  • Building relationships and social connections

  • Participating in daily routines with greater independence

  • Navigating community environments with increased confidence

AAC & Communication Systems

We support participants in using communication systems, including augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), to increase access, independence, and participation in everyday life.

Services may include:

  • Supporting the use of AAC within daily routines and activities

  • Helping communication partners model and respond effectively

  • Increasing access to communication across environments

  • Promoting communication for a variety of real-life purposes

Social Communication & Community Participation

We support the development of skills needed for meaningful interaction and participation in social and community settings.

This may include:

  • Initiating and maintaining interactions

  • Participating in shared activities

  • Understanding and responding to social situations

  • Expressing preferences and advocating for needs

  • Engaging in group and community-based experiences

Adaptive Skills & Daily Living Participation

We support communication as it relates to daily living, routines, and participation in everyday activities.

This may include:

  • Following and participating in daily routines

  • Managing transitions between activities

  • Supporting flexibility and problem-solving

  • Participating in tasks and responsibilities

  • Building independence in everyday situations

Caregiver & Team Coaching

Caregiver and team support is a central part of our model.

We work with caregivers and other team members to:

  • Implement communication strategies within everyday routines

  • Support participation and engagement across environments

  • Create consistency across home and community settings

  • Build confidence in supporting communication throughout the day

Where Services Take Place

Services are provided in natural, real-life environments where communication and participation occur, including:

  • Home settings

  • Community spaces

  • Recreational activities

  • Social outings

  • Other everyday environments

This approach supports meaningful skill use, generalization, and long-term independence.
