Los Angeles, CA (local position)

POSITION: Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) or Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPa)

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We’re currently hiring for part-time and full-time speech-language pathologist positions at Rachel Madel Speech Therapy, Inc. — a values-driven, family-centered private practice based in Los Angeles and serving clients in home across Beverly Hills, Culver City, Mid-City, Santa Monica among other neighborhoods.

But let’s be honest: this isn’t just any SLP job.

It’s a chance to be part of a team that believes communication is a human right, that complex doesn’t mean incapable, and that joy, curiosity, and connection should drive every single session.

What we Believe (and hope you do too!)

While we have a variety of populations we serve in our practice, we specialize in AAC and neurodiversity-affirming practices that empower minimally- and non-speaking individuals to communicate authentically.

Our work is rooted in the belief that:

  • All children deserve access to robust language opportunities (all means ALL)

  • Communication should be fun, engaging and empowering — never compliance-driven

  • Families and teams are part of the therapy process, not just bystanders

  • SLPs deserve to feel inspired, supported, and emotionally fulfilled — not just exhausted

This is a space where creative ideas are welcomed, burnout is actively prevented, and support is never in short supply. We believe in therapy that sparks joy.

We’re looking for someone who is…

  • Mission-Driven – You’re not here just for the paycheck. You’re here because you believe in helping every child find their voice.

  • AAC-Curious or Passionate – Whether you’re already AAC-savvy or just starting to explore, you’re hungry to learn more and build confidence.

  • Heart-Led & Family-Centered – You know that great therapy doesn’t just change the child’s life — it changes the whole family dynamic.

  • Growth-Oriented – You’re excited to get coaching, try new strategies, and build your skills in a collaborative and supportive environment.

  • Flexible & Tech-Comfortable – You can navigate digital tools, documentation systems, and are eager to keep trying new tools.

Bonus points if you’ve already stalked us on Instagram (@rachelmadelslp), listened to the Talking With Tech podcast, or secretly nerd out over therapy visuals, coaching strategies, and the latest and greatest ed tech tools.

TESTIMONIALS

Employee testimonial from Monica:

"I didn’t know a job like this existed and given the choice between working at RMST and anywhere else, I’d choose this every time.

There’s something incredibly special about being invited into a family’s home. It creates the chance to build real partnerships, not just with the learner, but with the whole family. We get to understand and actually see challenges that come up at home, and create strategies that best suit the learner and the people around them everyday. The carryover is strong, the connection is deep, and it feels like we’re truly making lasting change, not just ticking boxes on IEP reports. It’s so rewarding (and honestly, freeing!) to support communication that matters to the family with goals that go far beyond “will answer wh- questions.”

And while it’s a traveling job, I’ve come to love that aspect. Driving between sessions gives me a built-in pause. I can take time to reflect, reset, catch a podcast, or just sit quietly and breathe. It’s a kind of balance that not a lot of SLPs get in their days and I am incredibly grateful for it.

And then there’s Rachel Madel. An absolute all-star leader and friend. She’s one of the most knowledgeable people I’ve met in the field, but what really stands out is how generous she is with her time and expertise. No matter how complex the case or how small the question, she always shows up, and that kind of support has made me a more confident, grounded clinician. But she shows up not just on the clinical side of things, she shows up as a friend who truly cares about you. She’s the reason this job feels so different; so human, supported, and full of heart.

Being part of this team and doing this kind of meaningful work with this kind of support is something I don’t take for granted. I’m proud of the impact we’re making, and genuinely grateful to be here every day."

Employee testimonial from Alyssa:

"After experiencing burnout in the school setting due to high caseloads, frequent and often contentious IEP meetings, and the heavy demands of assessments and report writing, I made the decision to transition to a new role with Rachel Madel Speech Therapy Inc.. This change was transformative for both my professional well-being and the quality of care I can provide to my clients.

My position at RMST offers a significantly reduced workload, allowing me to focus fully on delivering meaningful and individualized therapy. Unlike my previous role in the schools, there are no unrealistic expectations or timelines that force me to work beyond my scheduled hours. The workload is manageable within the time I’m given, which has made a tremendous difference in reducing stress and improving my overall quality of life.

Unlike the school setting, where I often had to be a jack-of-all-trades therapist managing a wide range of needs, my current role allows me to specialize and truly hone in on my passion: augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). This focus has not only deepened my expertise but also increased my sense of purpose and fulfillment in the work I do.

Working in clients' homes has also deepened my relationships with both families and team members. The intimate setting fosters trust, collaboration, and connection. In many cases, I truly feel like part of the family, which enhances the therapeutic process and creates a more supportive and rewarding environment.

One of the greatest strengths of this position is the leadership. Rachel is a true mentor—supportive, knowledgeable, and deeply invested in both client outcomes and therapist well-being. She provides the flexibility and autonomy that make this role not only sustainable but genuinely enjoyable.

Overall, my role with RMST has reignited my passion for speech therapy, allowed me to specialize in an area I care deeply about, and helped me reconnect with why I entered the field in the first place."

Employee testimonial from Julie:

Working for Rachel Madel has been one of the most refreshing professional experiences I’ve ever had. She’s the kind of boss who truly puts her clinicians first, always checking in, always listening, and always offering support whether it’s through Voxer, email, in-person, online, or even a quick phone call. She makes herself available in a way that feels genuine, not performative.

What really sets her apart is how she leads, with mentorship, not micromanagement. She gives meaningful feedback that highlights your strengths and helps you grow without ever making you feel like you're falling short. It’s rare to work for someone who’s so approachable that you feel equally comfortable telling her you’re thriving or that you need to scale something back, and she meets both with the same empathy and support.

She’s not competitive or controlling, because she doesn’t have to be. She knows the value she brings, and she leads with that quiet confidence that creates space for everyone else to succeed too. She cares deeply about her team and the clients we serve, and it shows in everything she does. I’m really lucky to be part of her team.
