What your child should be saying: 

  • Uses sentences with 4-5 words to describe activties of the day.

  • Begins linking sentences together (e.g. “I had pizza for lunch and then I played outside”)

  • Asks and answers more complex “WH” questions (“Who, What, Where, When, Why”)

  • Uses pronouns (“I, you, me, we, they”)

What your child should understand:

  • Follows more complex directions that involve descriptive words (e.g. “Give me the red ball” or “Walk slowly”)

  • Begins understanding the concept of “same” versus “different” and can point out objects that match/ objects that are different

  • Understands positions concepts (“behind, in front, around, next to, beside, between”)
